Laura Bow Dorian is a Pulitzer Prize winning octegenarian writer. Sometime in 1993, she gave a lecture on Investigative Reporting techniques at Tulane University.

The reference is an homage to Laura Bow a character from Laura Bow murder mystery series, who originally went to Tulane.
